Good news for anyone out there stranded on a desert island who might be reading this! Shipwrecked (the essential guide for castaways and pirates) is now available in BlackBerry App World at https://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/18512424/.
Shipwrecked is a fairly simple app I made for the Marmalade Free PlayBook offer (which has since been closed due to exceptional demand; more about that at http://opensourcebb.com/2012/10/marmalade-free-playbook-offer-closed-due-to-exceptional-demand/).
So if you're deserted on a desert island (or you're one of those paranoid types who think it just might happen) and need a guide that will help you survive,* head on over to App World and Download Shipwrecked today!
*Survival is not guaranteed; downloading this app will not increase your chances of survival; the developer is not liable for your failure to survive.
Late last night I realized the free URL I was using, SCrApps.tk, had registered a false positive with Kaspersky internet security and been shut down by dot.tk; as SCrApps has grown a small amount since I originally started it, I decided it was time to get a more permanent URL. Unfortunately SCrApps.com and SCrApps.net were taken, so I bought a .org and the site is now being rebranded.
App Drawer was just released for the BlackBerry PlayBook. Get it in App World at Buy App Drawer - Download App Drawer - Buy Apps from BlackBerry App World for only $0.99.
App Drawer is an app that puts all the main system apps of your BlackBerry PlayBook into one convenient place. The App World Description:
The BlackBerry App World is an ever-expanding playground of new applications. Which is awesome, except sometimes it can make it hard to find a specific app you're looking for. Well App Drawer is here to help! Using a simple yet elegant interface, App Drawer puts all your system PlayBook Apps into one convenient place. App Drawer currently gives you easy access to the following apps: Browser Messages Calendar Contacts Compose New Email Camera Video Camera Music Videos Photos Video Chat (Video Chat only partially supported) App World Facebook Clock Bing Maps Music Store PlayBook File Browser Help Setup Print To Go (not fully supported) Settings (including quick access to each settings menu, including wifi, bluetooth, bridge, etc) and Bridge Apps (Bridge Email, BBM, Contacts, Calendar, Memopad, and Tasks).
App Drawer should be BB10 compatible when BB10 launches, assuming RIM allows access to the API to launch other apps that the PlayBook currently has in BB10 devices (the Dev Alpha supports a few of them). Check the rest of the article for more pics.
Bit late of a post here, but I just recently updated my site to make it more relevant, and I figure that included updating the blog.
Tablet TV 3.0 was recently pushed to App World, and is now available. This update includes a whole new UI. This update was planned to be completed prior to the launch of BB10, but had to be done early due to issues which arose in the PlayBook OS2 Beta.
For those of you who already own Tablet TV, the update is free. For those of you who don't, or are on the Free version, the paid version is now only $0.99 (the equivalent of about 6 minutes of work at minimum wage in the US - for only 6 minutes, you can own this awesome app!). You can download it from http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/95507/. For those of you who don't wish to purchase the full version, the Free version has also been updated.
Also, the launch page for SCrApps (www.SCrApps.tk) has received a make over. Head on over to the main page and check it out!
Thanks to this thread on CrackBerry I decided a TV app for PlayBook would be awesome. So I made one.
Tablet TV is available at http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/95507/?lang=en
The free version, with less channels, is available at: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/95505/?lang=en
I don't want anyone to think that this app does anything the Playbook Browser can't do - it's more of a convenience app than anything else.
Here's a full list of included channels (note that this is highly outdated at this time):
Nat Geo Channel
The Comedy Network
User Submited Content
South Park Studios
Amazon Prime Video (May or may not work)
Hulu Plus (not working)
Netflix (not working)
Streaming Services (from your PC)
Custom URLs (for Apache, TVersity, Ampache, etc.)
Figured I'd make a quick post, it's been a while since I've used this blog.
I wanted to let everyone know that RIM just approved an update for the Donationware Google+ app I have in app world. The update addresses an issue with the app saving your login information, and also adds a new launch screen.
In order to stay logged in in the Google+ app, you need to first click on the login info in the top righthand corner of the screen. You'll enter your login info and and close the app. After that you'll remain logged in.
The Protect Portal app features a new icon, a new launch screen, and navigation icons for forward, back, and home.
You can download them at:

Today (after more than a month of delay) RIM approved the SCrApps Wikipedia app for BlackBerry Playbook and BlackBerry OS7!

This morning BlackBerry released a scanner for Skagit County Washington. This scanner streams feeds for:
Skagit County Sheriff
Washington State Patrol, Upper Skagit Tribal Police, and Anacortes Police are enabled from time to time.
Check it out at: http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/78685
Formerly I had a scanner for both the West and the South divisions of the Riverside County California Sheriff. The feeds for those two divisions were combined, so I changed the South scanner into Riverside Fire and the West scanner into SouthWest Sheriff.
The update should be available in BlackBerry App World in a few days.
This morning RIM approved a scanner Allegheny County Pennsylvania North Fire, EMS, and Police.
